How your data.
gets handled.

Plain English, no legalese. Here's exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Aberdeen Marketing Agency is a sole trader based in Aberdeen, Scotland. We're the data controller for any personal information you share with us. If you've got a question about how we handle your data, email daniel@aberdeenmarketingagency.co.uk.

What we collect

We only collect what's needed to actually help you. That's typically:

  • Contact details you give us via the contact form or free-website application — name, email, phone, business name.
  • Project information you share during a chat or engagement — what your business does, what you're trying to achieve.
  • Basic site analytics — anonymised visitor data via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (pages viewed, rough geography, device type, scroll and click patterns). Used to understand what's working on this site, not to track individuals.

We don't collect anything we don't need. We don't sell your data. We don't add you to marketing lists you didn't sign up for.

Why we use it

Three reasons:

  • 1 To reply to your enquiry — pretty obvious. If you fill in a form, we use your details to get back to you.
  • 2 To deliver the work — if you become a client, we need your business info to actually do the project (build the site, optimise the rankings, etc.).
  • 3 To improve this website — analytics helps us see which pages are useful and which aren't, so we can make the site better over time.

Who we share it with

Only the tools needed to run the business — and only to the extent each tool needs to do its job:

  • Netlify or Cloudflare — hosts this website and processes form submissions.
  • Google Analytics — anonymised website usage data.
  • Google Tag Manager — loads the analytics and measurement tags listed here. No data collection in its own right; it's the tag-management layer.
  • Microsoft Clarity — session recordings and heatmaps so we can see where the site's working and where it's not. No personally-identifying information captured.
  • Email provider — when we reply to your message.

We don't sell your data, ever. We don't share it with advertisers, brokers, or anyone else not directly involved in delivering work for you.

How long we keep it

Enquiry data: kept for 24 months in case you come back. Client project data: kept for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes, then deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner — see below.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • See what we have on you — request a copy of all your personal data we hold.
  • Correct it if anything's wrong.
  • Delete it — ask us to remove your data entirely.
  • Object to how we're using it.
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we've mishandled your data.

Email daniel@aberdeenmarketingagency.co.uk for any of the above — we'll reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Cookies

This site uses minimal cookies — only the ones needed for the site to work properly, plus analytics cookies (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) to understand how visitors use the site. No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking for marketing purposes. Your browser can block cookies entirely if you'd like — the site will still work.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. If the changes are significant, we'll email anyone we've worked with directly.
